RoRo containers

When a skip won’t cut it.

Roll-on roll-off containers from 20 to 50 cubic yards across Wakefield, Leeds, Dewsbury and Ossett — for sites where a standard skip simply isn’t big enough. We deliver, swap and collect on your schedule, keeping demolition, fit-out and commercial projects moving without the bottleneck of constant skip changes.

High Volume

RoRos handle the kind of waste that would fill multiple skips — 20, 40 or even 50 cubic yards on a single drop.

Site Efficiency

One container, one swap, one collection. Less downtime on site than constantly cycling smaller skips in and out.

Demolition Ready

Ideal for demolition, strip-outs, fit-outs and major commercial clearances where the volume of waste is unpredictable.

Environmentally Responsible

At EFR Skips, we are committed to maximum recycling and minimal landfill. Over 90% of the waste we collect is recycled or recovered, keeping it out of landfill and contributing to a cleaner West Yorkshire.

By choosing EFR Skips for your skip hire, you are actively contributing to sustainable waste management and helping protect the environment for future generations.

Common questions about skip hire

Everything you need to know before you book — sizes, prices, permits, hire periods and what you can put in a skip.

What size skip do I need for my project?

The right skip size depends on the volume of waste you have. As a guide, a 2 yard mini skip holds around 25 bin bags and suits small bathroom or kitchen refits. A 4 yard midi skip fits roughly 50 bin bags — ideal for single-room renovations or garden clearouts. An 8 yard maxi skip holds about 100 bin bags and is our most popular size for full kitchen and bathroom refurbs, building work and landscaping projects. A 16 yard jumbo skip fits up to 200 bin bags but is for light waste only — no rubble, soil or concrete. If you are unsure, choose the next size up: skips fill faster than people expect, and a second hire costs more than a slightly larger skip first time.

How much does skip hire cost in Wakefield, Leeds and Dewsbury?

EFR Skips prices start from £125 inc. VAT for a 2 yard mini skip and rise to £500+ for a 16 yard jumbo. A 4 yard midi typically costs from £165 and the popular 8 yard maxi from £270. Final pricing depends on your postcode zone and whether the skip sits on private property or the public road. If we need to obtain a council permit for a road placement, an additional £40 is added (this is the 2-week initial council fee and is non-refundable). All quoted prices include VAT, delivery, collection and disposal — there are no hidden charges. You can get an exact instant quote by entering your postcode on our online booking page.

How long can I keep a skip for?

The standard EFR Skips hire period is 7 calendar days from delivery. If you need the skip for longer, contact our office at least 24 hours before your collection date and we can usually arrange an extension at a small additional charge. Trade and corporate account customers are not subject to the 7-day limit and can hold skips for the duration of their project. We collect at the earliest opportunity after the hire period ends, and we reserve the right to collect a fully loaded skip earlier if needed. If you fill the skip before day 7, request collection online and we will pick it up as soon as a slot is available.

Do I need a permit for a skip?

You only need a permit if the skip is placed on a public highway, footpath or grass verge. If the skip sits entirely on your own private land — driveway, garden, forecourt or yard — no permit is required. EFR Skips arranges the council permit on your behalf for road placements, and the standard cost is £40 for an initial 2-week period (this varies slightly between Wakefield, Leeds and Kirklees councils). Permits are non-refundable. We also provide light beacons and traffic cones for road-placed skips so they comply with overnight visibility rules. If a permit cannot be obtained, we offer a wait-and-load service as an alternative.

What can and can't I put in a skip?

Skips accept most non-hazardous waste: inert materials, soil, garden waste, paper, plastics, wood, household furniture and general construction waste. The following items are strictly prohibited under our waste carrier licence: fridges and freezers, fluorescent lamps, gas cylinders, tyres, solvent paints, clinical waste, liquids, oils, asbestos, large batteries, and POP-containing upholstered furniture (sofas, armchairs etc). Plasterboard is accepted at additional cost — it must be double-bagged and we charge £200 per full skip for proper disposal. Mattresses, carpets, fridges and large appliances are accepted as controlled waste at per-item rates. Always tell us in advance if you have controlled or unusual waste so we can quote correctly and avoid extra charges at collection.

Can I get same-day skip delivery?

Yes — EFR Skips offers same-day and next-day delivery across Wakefield, Leeds, Dewsbury and Ossett, subject to availability. Same-day slots fill quickly so we recommend booking before midday to maximise the chance of getting one. Next working day delivery is almost always available if booked in advance. Our operating hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to 1pm. If your skip needs a council permit for road placement, allow extra time for the local authority to process — this is typically 2 to 5 working days but varies by council. For urgent needs, call your nearest depot directly and our team will do everything possible to fit you in.

What's the difference between skip hire and grab hire?

Skip hire means we drop off a container that stays on your site for several days while you fill it at your own pace. Grab hire means a lorry with a hydraulic grab arm visits your site, loads the waste directly into the lorry and drives it away in a single visit. Grab hire is faster and often cheaper for large volumes of bulk waste like soil, rubble, hardcore and aggregates because there is no per-day rental and one grab lorry holds the equivalent of multiple skips. The grab arm can also reach over walls and fences, so it suits sites where there is no space for a skip. Use skip hire for ongoing projects, grab hire for one-off bulk removals.
