Frequently Asked Questions
The right skip size depends on the amount of waste you have. As a general guide, a 2-yard mini skip suits small bathroom or kitchen refits, a 4-yard midi skip handles single-room renovations, and an 8-yard maxi skip is ideal for larger projects. If in doubt, we recommend going for the next size up as skips tend to fill more quickly than expected.
You can dispose of most non-hazardous waste including inert materials, soil, garden waste, paper, plastics, wood, old furniture, and general household or construction waste. If you are unsure whether a specific item is accepted, please give us a call and we will be happy to advise.
The following items must not be placed in a skip: fridges and freezers, fluorescent lamps, gas cylinders, tyres, solvent-based paints, clinical waste, liquids, oils, asbestos, and any other hazardous waste. Disposing of these items incorrectly is illegal and can result in fines.
Skips must be level loaded and waste should not protrude above the top edge of the skip. It is illegal to overfill a skip as it poses a safety risk during transportation. If your skip is full and you still have waste to dispose of, contact us and we can arrange a swap or an additional skip.
If the skip is placed on a public highway, pavement, or grass verge, you will need a council permit. We can arrange this on your behalf. If you do not have a permit and cannot place the skip on private land, we offer a wait-and-load service where our driver waits while you fill the skip and takes it away immediately.
In most cases we can deliver a skip on the next working day. Delivery times are subject to availability and, if a permit is required, processing times set by the local council.
The standard hire period is up to 10 days. If you need the skip for longer, please call our helpdesk and we will do our best to arrange an extension for you.
Yes. Over 90% of all waste we collect is sorted and recycled at our transfer stations. We are committed to a zero-to-landfill goal and continually work to increase our recycling rates across all waste streams.
